Salt & Sand.

Salt and Sand is a three page magazine spread advertising the Arc and Arte Detangling Comb, but it goes beyond product promotion. The spread explores the beauty of hair, the human body, and their connection to nature. Messy hair becomes a symbol of freedom, an embrace of imperfection and realness in a world that expects women to be composed and controlled. It encourages letting go and rejecting societal pressures. The imagery also draws parallels between the female form and the natural world, highlighting how nature’s irregular shapes are admired as unique and beautiful, yet similar diversity in body shapes is often rejected. Finally, I wanted the piece to stand as art rather than advertisement. Thus, the comb only appears visiable in the last spread ensuring the audience can enjoy the art without feeling pressured to purchase something.
